Saskatoon Police’s Stolen Auto and Patrol unit made some significant headway into a dismaying case where 34 specialized sport wheelchairs were stolen in July.
On Friday, November 24, a search warrant was executed near Dalmeny, SK and 20 of the wheelchairs were located, along with wheelchair tires, basketballs, jerseys and nets.
The warrant was made with the assistance of the RCMP.
Thirty-four sport-specific wheelchairs and other equipment had been reported stolen in July after the trailer they had been stored in was taken from a compound on Cynthia Street.
The 20 recovered chairs are valued at $80,000. Three stolen vehicles were also recovered during the search.
A 37-year-old is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 (x2).
A second , also 37-years-old, is also facing a charge of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.
