Members of the Legislative Assembly were encouraged to take care of their health during lunch Tuesday afternoon.
Diabetes Canada conducted diabetes risk assessments tests in the basement of the legislature.
Minister of Rural and Remote Health Greg Ottenbreit took the test himself and says it was important and great process to take.
“There’s a bit of history of Type 2 diabetes in my family, so it’s good to get checked.”
Regional Director of Diabetes Canada Brie Hnetka says it’s important legislators like Ottenbreit understand the importance of diabetic testing and health.
“We do individual risk assessments with the MLA’s so they learn what the risk is for diabetes, many of them don’t realize they may be at risk for diabetes.”
