Things are looking good on the hills at one of the most popular parks in southern Saskatchewan.
Mission Ridge Winter Park opened today to great fanfare from skiiers and snowboarders.
General Manager Don Williams says the hills are in great shape.
“It’s beautiful. They are covered wall to wall, all freshly groomed this morning, people out there just having a great time.”
Williams says they don’t often get a lot of natural snow, so they often have a work around so they can open up the hills sooner rather than later.
“A lot of people don’t realize we make our own snow. For years and years, they’ve always believed we worked off of natural snow,” he says.
“The truth of the matter is if we did that, we wouldn’t have opened one day in the last 16 years.”
