A 37 year old man, and a 36 year old woman were taken to hospital Monday morning with injuries described as serious after a two-vehicle accident on the Ring Road near the Ross Avenue exit.
Police say just before 9 AM, they were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found both a courier truck and a Honda Civic in the south ditch with two men including an off-duty firefighter trying to help
One of the officers had to use his baton to break the rear window of the Civic to get both occupants out and into ambulances.
A preliminary investigation shows the Civic was heading north when it crossed the ditch for some reason, and hit the courier truck which was heading south.
The driver of the truck did not need to be sent to hospital.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to come forward to police to deliver a statement.
