Is winter really all that bad? Sure it can get very cold, our cars may not start, and we have to scrape and brush off snow from our vehicles. But it’s not all bad.
We tend to complain to one another about all the snow and cold, yet when we go somewhere warm we tell the locals all about the cold and snow with pride, like we’re the only ones that deal with and that we lived to talk about it! We love telling resort staff and cab drivers that it gets down to -35 and that we go to work like it’s any ordinary day. Meanwhile the staff probably heard the same story about eight times that day!
There’s the recreation side of winter that is fun, but there’s also the beauty that goes with, especially on the prairies. The stunning sight of frosted trees is a reminder of the awesome forces of nature. The feeling of walking with someone special under gently falling flurries with the crunch of snow under one’s boots is a romantic scene that not even Hollywood can duplicate….and it only happens for one season a year.
So there we go, is winter all that bad? I don’t think so! When you think about it, there are a lot more positives than negatives when it it comes to this season.
Oh, and one more thing, there are also no mosquitoes in winter!
