I consider myself a good driver. I haven’t had a ticket for any driving infraction for a very long time. Sure, I get frustrated and a little impatient at times, but that’s usually because a driver in front of me has no idea how to drive. I thought I’d compile a list of my pet peeves when it comes to driving.
#1. People who don’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign. This morning on my way to work I noticed 2 different vehicles that apparently consider a red light on a right turn as an inconvenience. I see it all the time, and unfortunately, a lot of those vehicles are city transit buses.
#2. People who don’t enter the intersection to turn left on a green light. At a busy intersection, without an advance green for turning, traffic can slow down to a crawl for those wanting to turn left. At least when a vehicle is in the intersection, it can advance when the light turns yellow. Otherwise the driver will sit there through 2 or 3 light changes while everyone behind him is doing a slow burn and honking their horns.
#3. People who drive way below the speed limit. I’ve always thought that slow drivers are just as dangerous, if not more, than fast drivers. Many mornings on my way to work, I get behind this vehicle with the licence plate “PALERMO” that refuses to drive any faster than 30 clicks. I don’t like tailgating drivers and I don’t like being tailgated, but I ride this guys tail hoping he gets the hint to speed up a bit. Hey, you have to drive for the conditions, but this guy does the same speed mid-summer.
#4. People who don’t take the time to clear the snow off of all their windows. I blogged about this yesterday and I see it every winter.
Those are my top pet peeves when it comes to drivers and driving habits.
If you have your own pet peeves, let me know!
