I’ve noticed more and more large grocery stories are now requiring customers to bag their own groceries now. Some of it has to do with the fact that many bring their own bags to the store now. I always find their is a certain amount of pressure when the cashier asks how many bags I want…and I only have mere seconds to make a quick estimate! I failed with that estimate the other night.
I originally went to the store just to get a few lunch supplies and milk. As always, it turned out to be a lot more. At the till, the cashier asked how many bags I required. In the two seconds I felt I had, I answered with “one bag, please.” Well, that’s where it all went down hill. I paid and started to frantically pack the groceries up to get out of the way of the next person.
As you can see by the picture above, I had way to much in the bag, but I said I only needed one and darn it I’m going to make it work! I had a crumpled box of Cheerios cereal, my applesauce was falling out from the side and, even better, the lid on my container of olives loosened on the ride home and I had olive juice in the bottom of the bag. Yum. This, ladies and gentleman, was a big shopping bag miscalculation. Other than this, the shopping trip was successful! I even bought something healthy too.
