The other day after work I decided I’d stop in to Klein’s on 4th and Pasqua and top up my gas tank. As I’ve mentioned before,Bob and the girls always have 620 CKRM blaring in the background. That alone seems like a good reason to spend my money there!
As I waited to pay for my gas there was a young lady in front of me waiting for the same thing. There was another person in front of her, so this lady ahead of me decided she’d bide her time by doing some texting. I couldn’t believe it. She held her phone with one hand and was texting with her thumb. And she wasn’t plodding along either. Her thumb was dancing across that keyboard at a pretty good clip. I was impressed!
I’m a relative newcomer to the cellphone and texting world. I need one hand to hold my phone while my index finger from my free hand does the letter punching. I thought I was coming along pretty well until I stood behind this lady and watched how it’s really done.
Our 8 year-old granddaughter will Snapchat with my wife on a daily basis. I don’t live in a cave, so obviously I’ve heard of Snapchat, but I have no idea how it works. When an 8 year-old can use technology that you’ve only heard of, you pretty well know it’s time to play catch up.
Usually it’s the grandparents that are supposed to dole out sage advice to their grandchildren, but looks like Kelcey and I might have to do a little role reversal. Maybe this Christmas I’ll have to sit her down and have her teach me what this Snapchat is all about.
