A Regina Police Service member discharged a Taser while trying to apprehend and arrest 31-year-old Regina man on Sunday December 31, 2017.
Around 11:30 pm, Police saw a man openly carrying a weapon (knife) on 5th Avenue at McTavish Street.
Officers approached the man who then covered his face and reached for the weapon.
According to a police report, the suspect was resistant and would not listen to police commands.
That’s when a police officer discharged a CEW and the man was successfully taken into custody after a brief physical altercation.
31-year-old , Gabriel Cote of Regina, is charged with Possession of Weapon For Dangerous Purpose, Carrying Concealed Weapon and Resist Arrest.
He was released with conditions to attend Provincial Court on February 12th, 2018.
