The Ministry of Education has released the latest quarterly report regarding lost finances reported by Saskatchewan school boards.
$101, 744 was lost from mid-September until November 30th, with $21,500 dollars coming from the Regina Public School Board.
Supervisor of Communications Terry Lazarou says the majority of the lost $21,500 occurred when 18 of their buses were robbed.
“Someone broke into our compound where our buses are and stole 18 diesel particulate filters,” says Lazarou.
The theft was reported and an insurance claim was filed with SGI. Lazarou says security at the bus lot has also been beefed up.
He also says security and fiscal responsibility is of the highest priority to the board.
“Regina Public Schools tries to be as good a steward of the public finances it has, and in doing that, it takes security of its equipment and buildings very seriously.”
