It was a busy holiday season at YQR.
Thousands of travellers passed through Regina International as they looked to leave behind the frigid temperatures and escape to warmer destinations.
Acting CEO Ken Waschuk says despite the influx in people and wicked winter weather, airport personnel held on.
“Our people here are prepared for extreme weather and extreme cold perpetuating itself across weeks at a time,” he says. “Unlike Toronto, where they had some major problems with cold, we’re sort of in a difference space and we’re used to it and we’re prepared for it a little bit better.”
Waschuk states over 1,000,000 people passed through YQR in 2017.
He says now that the holiday season is over, the airport is looking forward to a great year full of new opportunities, including the welcoming of new Airport CEO James Bogusz in February.
