The Regina Pats have made their fourth trade since the WHL Christmas break ended as they strengthen their lineup for the WHL playoffs and the Memorial Cup.
On Monday afternoon, the team announced they have acquired 19 year old defenceman Libor Hajek from the Saskatoon Blades for 19 year old defenceman Dawson Davidson, 16 year forward Tristan Robins and a first round pick in the 2019 bantam draft.
Hajek is coming off a strong performance for the Czech Republic at the 2018 World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo where he had eight points in seven games as the Czechs finished fourth.
Hajek, a 2nd round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2016 NHL draft, has scored eight goals and has 17 assists for 25 points. In 167 WHL games, all with the Blades, Hajek has put up 15 goals and 62 assists for 77 points.
Head Coach and General Manager John Paddock feels as if they have acquired one of the top defencemen in the WHL with this deal.
The Pats will be on home ice Wednesday when they entertain Edmonton in game two of a four-game homestand.
