This morning on my way to work I was heading south on Albert St. and noticed three people on bikes coming up from the underpass at Albert and Sask. Drive, going the opposite direction. Although the weather is nice, I didn’t think it was nice enough to ride bikes.
They were all young girls who appeared to be in their early teens. I could see that the girls were laughing and having fun as they passed me. Although I see that scenario played out many times on my way to work, it always leaves me shaking my head. Don’t parents keep track of their kids anymore?
I didn’t have the cajones to do that when I was a kid. It never even crossed my mind. Besides, the last thing I wanted to do as a kid was ride my bike around the city at 3 o’clock in the morning. I’d rather sleep all night so I could get up and ride my bike around the city all day long.
Things haven’t changed much either.
Driving to work is still the last thing I want to be doing at 3 o’clock in the morning, but until I win that lottery, this will be the way it will be!
