Trust me, after yesterday I might be making my way back to the Lawson Aquatic Centre in Regina. Yesterday’s rain and now skating to and from work, I say “UNCLE”! Is it time to pack a bag and head to warmer climates. Even if it is a local indoor pool, this is pretty inviting!
When I left work Tuesday, I thought “ah a few drops, not so bad!” when I left THE BAY it was nicely raining. I had been warned by a fellow shopper that it was slick on the streets. I have a low centre of gravity but that wouldn’t stop a person from feeling unsteady walking the streets of Regina. You assume the super senior walk, which means you are shuffling, hunched over and arms spread out, as if! This is just the stance that will save you from a fall!!
Traffic was moving along okay! As a driver, I’d have been watching for pedestrians sliding under cars.
Walking along the east side of Cornwall Street I was hugging onto a railing, street post – really anything to get from downtown to my home. The key was either walking in the middle of the street (not so good during the rush hour) or walking on grass, snow or mud to get traction.
I didn’t fall, came close. I threw on the grippy treads and walked in the middle of the street this morning. Damn windy and cold with icy sidewalks and parkways, just not ideal! But really, why should
Eastern Canadians have all the fun! The emergency rooms and surgery will probably be very busy with slip and fall cases. And I’m sure SGI and the Regina City Police are answering calls! Good Luck with that.
If you wonder why you feel sore today, but you didn’t fall, consider how tense you probably are walking on glare ice! That indoor pool or a vacation are looking pretty inviting!
