I hope everybody survived their ice travels yesterday. Lord knows, it wasn’t easy. I didn’t go down, but I came close a few times and I talked to more than a few people who did hit the pavement. Even emergency rooms at both hospitals were packed with those who had misadventures with icy sidewalks. It was the talk of the town yesterday.
I dropped in to Rosemont Hardware on the way home and apparently they had sold around 200 bags of ice melter from about 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon until the time I got there yesterday at about 11. 200 bags! And that’s only one location in Regina. I’d love to know how many bags were sold around the city. Makes a guy wish he would have hoarded a couple of hundred bags of that stuff over the summer. That would have paid for a nice trip somewhere that wasn’t icy!
The bag I bought didn’t go as far as I thought it would. I was able to take care of the front steps and the walk that leads from our door down to the sidewalk, but that was about it. If you were coming up to our house you were good. If you were walking by on the sidewalk, you were on your own.
The City of Regina is actually giving away free sand at these locations:
Have fun! It doesn’t look like this ice will be going anywhere anytime soon!
