It is a project right out of grade school.
English Class 1975.
The weather is unbearably cold, write an essay describing what this weather forces you to do.
Whether a kid or an adult, the ideas might just rush down your pen onto paper.
I know at my place it includes; shredding paper, going to a movie, catching up on sleep, cleaning the cupboards, thinking about going to the gym. Reading a book, catching a nap, going on line to look up a winter holiday. Packing for a winter holiday. Going on line to buy something, watching t.v. Hoping your car will start. Sorting and folding laundry.
As a child you might hope the bus is coming early to pick you up, it will be cancelled for the next day! Or your storm stayed at a friends! Can I sleep in, why do I have homework and can we go into the city (I was a farm kid). There’s nothing on t.v, I’m bored! Clean up your room! It’s too cold to go tobogganing and I sure don’t think skating is an option – its cold, I’m bored!
Ugh! Where is the fun stuff during cold winter stretches.
Weather can really be a bummer or it can be totally motivational!
As an adult, you are prepared because you have to be. You’re the master of your destiny – you’ve got the right gear to be outside. You can pack up and leave when it becomes unbearably cold! As a kid you have to wait for someone to take you .. unless you happened to be Richie Rich!
Ah, its fun to dream! Stay warm, walk like a penguin, think like a polar bear – its mindset and we’ll get through this to longer, warmer days!
