The Regina Pats have strengthened their hockey club with several additions at the WHL trade deadline, but they still have a ways to go before they can beat the Moose Jaw Warriors.
In a highly anticipated matchup against the WHL’s top team, the Pats found themselves down 4-0 after the first period before losing 5-3 at a sold out Brandt Centre Friday night.
Jayden Halbgewachs scored a pair of goals for Moose Jaw to give him 50 on the season in what was Moose Jaw’s 47th game. Josh Mahura had a pair for the Pats who with the loss fall to 24-20-4 on the season.
Head Coach John Paddock says there is no doubt the Warriors sent his team a message.
“They showed us why they are the top dog and they wanted to show us tonight that they were the top dog”. Paddock said. “We found out tonight just how far we have to go and that’s not a bad thing. They reminded us of last year.”
The Pats will be in action Saturday night as they are in Saskatoon as Cameron Hebig, Ryan Kubic and Libor Hajek return to SaskTel Centre for the first time since being traded before the deadline.
620 CKRM will have the game starting at 7.
