Downtown Regina is starting to push into another season of being thee place to come and hang out.
All you folks that live in the suburbs of Regina, yes!, you that come in from the Creeks, Lakeridge, Lumsden and Pilot Butte, start to consider staying a couple extra hours downtown.
The month of February will offer you many ways to break out of the doldrums of the last three or four months with exciting places to relax in, get physical at or shop around!
Starting Monday it is Tourism Saskatchewan and Regina Downtown Business Improvement District teaming up for Regina Restaurant Week! Cody Glydon and myself are heading out Tuesday night for some sampling! If you’re tired of the same old, same old then get in on Restaurant Week. And while you’re out – I’m personally inviting you to re-connect with the Royal Canadian Legion at 1820 Cornwall Street. New menu, new hours and a new chef in the house! Dieppe Cafe at 1820 Cornwall Street and right across the hallway the Vimy Lounge – enjoy supper and a pint.
Earlier this week, I stopped into the see the crew at Sweet Ambrosia Bake Shoppe. They have expanded their menu to include: soup, sandwich and other delights for the lunch crowd. Buffalo Chicken Wrap – ZING . The new location on the East Side of Albert Street between 14th and 15th Avenue. Watch for the parking patrol – there’s a bit of a bus lane there! Valentine’s Day is always a busy time for Sweet Ambrosia, so if you plan on ordering a cake or cupcakes think about it now!
When you walk all the time, there are places you love dropping into for lunch or a coffee and some that you want to visit but its not much fun on your own. I think of going to Victoria’s Tavern. Great food and if you sit at the bar, you’ll always have someone to chat with! Check out their GC #365. I’ve not indulged in 2018 – YET, they all look so good! For the LOVE of Grilled Cheese
Now that we have eaten our way around the downtown core, how about having some fun! The Brier is rapidly approaching and in February the Family Day weekend plus the Regina Pats Centennial weekend mean Regina is going to be billowing in and out with people and excitement.
Curl Sask has something very neat happening and you should check it out. Crokicurl will be set up February 12-16 not just promoting the 2018 Winter Olympics but the Tim Horton’s Brier coming to Regina in March. Crokicurl – WHAT? WHERE?
Don’t forget, Regina Downtown Business Improvement District offers you skating at Victoria Park and the theme nights look like a blast! The Library has a theatre and houses great books plus an art gallery. The YM & YWCA are located downtown each one with a unique approach to community. The YWCA has a boutique on the main floor and the YMCA offers you a quaint and reasonable place to have a light lunch.
The Cornwall Centre and shops downtown are diverse and include tailoring your own style with the likes of Dean Renwick.
From craft beer to well crafted cinnamon buns, Regina’s downtown is humming and just waiting for you to discover it!
