The Regina Pats were defeated by the Swift Current Broncos 4-1 at the Brandt Centre Sunday afternoon.
The Pats lead the charge offensively in the first period, out shooting the Broncos 17-9 after the first period, but weren’t able to find the back of the net until the third period.
The Broncos meanwhile made the most of their opportunities, scoring once in both of the first two periods, then scoring twice in the final stanza.
In the first period, Beck Malenstyn scored his sixth of the season, with the assist from Aleksi Heponiemi, allowing the Broncos to lead 1-0.
In the second, a bad give away in the Pats zone allowed Matteo Gennaro to score his 31st of the season, giving the Broncos a 2-0 lead.
In the third, the Broncos dominated the play for the first half, adding to their lead with a goal from Aleksi Heponiemi on the power play.
With the Broncos up 3-0 mid-way through the third, Cale Fleury scored on the Power Play, giving the Pats some life trailing 3-1.
But then Glenn Gawdin scored his 40th of the season, giving the Broncos all they needed for the 4-1 win.
The Pats are back in action Wednesday night, when they host the Prince George Cougars.
