The second degree murder trial for 56-year-old Gerald Stanley resumes Thursday morning from the Battlefords.
Stanley is charged with second-degree murder in the 2016 death of 22-year-old Indigenous man Colten Boushie.
Boushie was sitting in the driver’s seat of an SUV when he was shot in the back of the head after he and four friends had driven onto Stanley’s farm.
Stanley testified he thought his handgun was empty when he reached into Boushie’s vehicle, but the gun just went off.
This morning the jury will hear closing arguments followed by instructions from the judge.
