While some Olympic competition is already underway, the opening ceremonies were held Friday morning with activity in several sports beginning Friday.
Canada has a strong contingent of athletes at the games with seven of them hailing from Saskatchewan. The seven are:
Milestone’s Mark McMorris (pictured) who is a medal favourite in snowboarding, Saskatoon’s Emily Clark in women’s hockey, Wakaw’s Lindon Vey in men’s hockey, Regina’s Ben Hebert in men’s four-person curling, Saskatoon bobsledder Ben Coakwell and speedskaters Kali Christ (Regina) and Marsha Hudey (White City).
The Olympics run until February 25.
