A western Canadian grocery chain is doing their part to help out children in care.
The Sherwood chapter of grocery chain Co-op built around 40 hampers for children at Souls Harbour Little Souls Daycare.
Community Engagement Manager with Sherwood Co-op Megan Dunn says many people in the community are need of assistance year round.
“As much as there is giving happening over Christmas time and things like that, the need is there all year round,” said Dunn. “When the Christmas bills are coming in and things are a little bit tight, we like to give them a bit of a hand up.”
Dunn says it’s hampers are primarily comprised of non-perishable and perishable items, which are used to give the kids healthy and nutritious meals.
