I admit, I’m caught up in the rally to win as many medals in South Korea as a Canadian Olympic team can. There’s a high bar set! You’ve been in training for this moment all of your life, the highs and the lows can be immense!
Today, as our mixed curling team put away the third gold medal of these games, I was reading the weather. I had no television audio, by just by watching the live feed, I found I was overcome with emotion. It was hard to hold back tears of joy!
A sport that Canadians love! A new twist on something that is about communications, team work, strategy and never giving up on each other. Mixed Curling! Who knew – I guess Jeff Stoughton did. And now Canadians are turned on to the dynamic duo of Kaitlyn Lawes and John Morris. And they are GOLDEN!
Bronze medals too from the women of Canada! Today its more Grit on Ice.
Not all battles are won with medals – I think of the amazing stories that come with athletes such as Denny Morrison.
And of course there’s Mark McMorris’ story – how will the rest of his Olympic dream unfold. Stay tuned!
