Stats Canada is out with a report saying Saskatchewan’s two major cities saw the fastest population growth from a period of time stretching from July 1, 2016 to July 1, 2017.
In that time, Canada’s number cruncher says the Saskatoon area, which includes Warman and Martensville, saw population growth of 2.8 percent while the Regina region, which includes White City, Pilot Butte, Lumsden and Balgonie saw growth of 2.4 percent.
Only two other areas in Canada saw growth of over two percent. They were Guelph, Ontario and the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
The report adds both Saskatoon and Regina are two of the top 5 youngest cities in Canada. Just under 88 percent of the population in Saskatoon is under 65 making them the second youngest while Regina is the fourth youngest with 87 percent of our population under 65.
