Things were going well for the Regina Pats until the midway point of the second period on Wednesday night as they battled the WHL’s top team–the Moose Jaw Warriors in the first of three games between the two teams this week.
Regina led the game 2-1, but Tanner Jeannot scored on the power-play at 9:52 followed by Brandon Schuldhaus’s 2nd of the game at 10:15 which was followed by another Moose Jaw goal off the stick of Jayden Halbegewachs at 10:35 as Moose Jaw went on to a 6-3 win in front of over 6000 fans at the Brandt Centre.
Regina (29-24-5-1) got their goals from Cameron Hebig, Sam Steel and Josh Mahura.
The Brandon Wheat Kings lost to Swift Current on Wednesday meaning Regina remains one point behind the 3rd place Wheat Kings in the Eastern Division, but Saskatoon inched closer to the first wild-card spot that Regina owns by beating Kootenay 3-2 meaning the Blades are only three back of Regina with a game in hand.
The Pats and Warriors will meet again Friday at Mosaic Place in a 7 o’clock start.
