The Saskatchewan Roughriders have 45 players on their negotiation list as do all teams. On Tuesday afternoon, the Riders and all other teams made 10 of those names public.
This move was approved at the CFL Winter Meetings with teams doing this twice a year with the second time happening in December.
In a statement, Commissioner Randy Ambrosie says “The CFL is also constantly striving to improve. We need to do more to ensure our great league is featured in the conversation about sports, and entertainment that is also happening around the clock today. Publicly releasing some of the names on our negotiation list is a step towards greater transparency as it gives the fans that support us and the media that cover us more CFL to talk about as we all look forward to our upcoming combines, draft and training camps.
The names of the 10 Rider players are :
Josh Boyce, wide receiver, TCU
B.J. Daniels, Quarterback/running back, South Florida
Akeem Davis, linebacker, Memphis
Curt Maggitt, defensive end, Tennessee
Trace McSorley, quarterback, Penn State
Luis Perez, quarterback, Texas A&M Commerce
Eric Pinkins, defensive back, San Diego State
Kevin Snead, wide receiver, Carson-Newman
Daxton Swanson, defensive back, Sam Houston State
Adam Zaruba, fullback, Simon Fraser
Some of the other names from across the league include 2017 Heisman Trophy winner quarterback Baker Mayfield (Toront0), 2016 Heisman Trophy Winner quarterback Lamar Jackson (BC), and former NFL quarterbacks Robert Griffin III (Hamilton) and Colin Kaepernick (Montreal).
