A prominent statue at the entrance to Victoria Park has been vandalized.
A statue of the first Prime Minister of Canada, Sir John A. MacDonald, has been covered in green and yellow paint.
MacDonald has become a polarizing figure as of late. Many have questioned his legacy, as he was Prime Minister when the first residential schools opened up in Canada. Since then, many people have protested his name on schools and other establishments, as well as his portrayal in public spaces, primarily statues.
For their part, the Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism in Regina has protested the statue, circulating a petition for it to be removed from the park.
