Two Saskatchewan athletes at the Pyeongchang Olympics suffered disappointment on Friday.
Wakaw’s Linden Vey and his men’s hockey team saw their dream of a gold medal fall by the wayside as they were beaten 4-3 by Germany in a semi-final.
The Canadian team is also coached by Saskatchewan native Willie Desjardins.
Meanwhile, Regina curler Ben Hebert is coming home empty-handed from the games. The Kevin Koe rink lost the bronze medal game to Switzerland’s Peter De La Cruz on Friday.
There could be another medal for a Saskatchewan athlete on Friday night though as Regina’s Mark McMorris looks for his 2nd medal of the games when he competes in the final of the men’s “Big Air” competition.
As the Winter Olympics wind down, Canada is having its best ever games with our athletes having taken home a record 27 medals.
