The MLA for Regina Rosemont is hoping to become the next leader for the Provincial NDP ahead of the next legislative sitting.
Trent Wotherspoon is set to run against Ryan Meili at the leadership convention, in hopes of running the party and potentially taking down the Sask Party in the next provincial election.
Wotherspoon explains his immediate plans for if he was elected.
“I would listen and build right across Saskatchewan and work to stand up for our province and its people,” Wotherspoon says. “That work would really be focused in rural Saskatchewan; meeting in our villages, our towns, our First nations, our Metis communities, with producers all across Saskatchewan, and I’d work to win that next election and deliver for people.”
Wotherspoon says he’s driven to protect Saskatchewan crowns and human service sectors.
“I’m really motivated to build our province, and I feel that we are at a crossroads right now, I think that much of what we value is being placed at risk when it comes to our classrooms, our crowns, supports for people and our most vulnerable,” Wotherspoon says. “I’m motivated to rally Saskatchewan people, to work with Saskatchewan people and build a province that works for everyone.”
The NDP leadership convention will take place Saturday, March 3rd in Regina.
