Yesterday after work I thought I’d dip into my parking change and stop and give my vehicle a much needed wash on the way home. The last time I tried to do that it seemed like everyone else had the same idea. I couldn’t find an empty bay so I just moved on and waited for another day. Yesterday was that day. Fortunately, the first bay I pulled up to was empty. Perfect. I left with a clean vehicle and it only cost me two days parking money!
This morning on the way to work I was headed east on 4th Avenue when I suddenly noticed a kitten scooting across the road directly in front of me. The kitten was on my side of the yellow line and I had no time to stop, so I just cranked my vehicle to the right waiting for the inevitable thump under my tires and the accompanying knot in my stomach. There was a car coming the other way and the driver must have wondered what in the world I was doing. He would have noticed in a second or two.
When I swerved around the kitten I was happy that I didn’t hear or feel anything. Then I took a look in my mirror and noticed that the kitten was just standing in the spot he was when I went around it. Whew, that was a close one. If there was ever a time to stay put and not move, that was the time, and that kitten nailed it. Good job buddy.
A clean vehicle and I didn’t run over a cat. To me, that’s a pretty good start to any day.
