Ryan Meili says why wait.
He thinks Saskatchewan should go the polls to vote a new government before the mandated election in 2020.
Meili, who was named NDP leader earlier this month, made the statement in Saskatoon on Friday.
He says the only people who voted Scott Moe as Premier were Saskatchewan Party members who named him to succeed Brad Wall at their leadership convention earlier this year and that Saskatchewan has a government with no mandate or the people’s trust thus an election should be called.
Speaking with reporters at the provincial legislature on Friday, Moe rejected Meili’s idea saying elections should be every four years and that the $25 million dollar cost to call an election now would not be the right move.
The next provincial election is scheduled for no later than November 2, 2020.
