It’s fair to say Dr. Vianne Timmons is always concerned about the image the University of Regina projects to the world.
As the President and Vice Chancellor, she should be, it’s part of her job.
So when about allegations of cheating in the Engineering program started surface, it was the first thing that came to her mind.
“Of course,” she said. “With all incidents, we are concerned about the reputation of the university!”
Timmons says she’s well aware of cheating at all levels of education, from kindergarten to post-secondary. However, she said it doesn’t alleviate her concern for this matter.
One thing though Timmons wants to make clear is how pleased she is with staff’s handling of these potentially damaging allegations.
“Our Dean of Engineering is doing an amazing job, both in identifying incidents and educating students,” she said. “So, they’ll always be more work to be done and we’ll continue to do it.
Timmons noted if anyone is caught cheating, there will be no hesitation to place sanctions on the student or students guilty.
