This morning after work I have to run over and see my doctor to get a prescription refilled. I never look forward to going to the doctors office. Even though I have an appointment, sometimes I wonder why I even bother. I never get in at the scheduled time. It’s always the same old thing. I get there 10 minutes early, check in, and wait. The thing that bothers me the most is people that come in after me and get in ahead of me. It doesn’t make sense and it happens every time. There’s no use complaining to the girl at the front desk, who looks like she’d rather bite your head off than be pleasant.
Why even make an appointment? I might as well take my chances just walking in off the street. I probably wouldn’t have to wait any longer than I usually do.
On top of all that, they even make you take your shoes off before you sit down! This morning I was more worried about finding a good pair of socks than I was about what I was going to wear to work!
My appointment is at 11 and I guarantee you that I won’t be in to see my doctor until at least 11:30, if I’m lucky. Once I do get in to see him, we’ll spend a couple of minutes yakking before he sends my new prescription to the drug store. I’m never in there longer than 5 minutes!
Another reason I don’t like going to see my doctor is because everyone in the waiting room is coughing, sneezing, limping, or worse. It’s never a pleasant place to visit. I guess I should thank my lucky stars that’s it’s not something serious that I’m going for. Things could always be worse.
At least it will be a whole lot easier getting there than it would have been at this time last week!
