The City of Regina is finally playing hardball with the developers of the Capital Pointe site at the corner of Albert and Victoria where the old Plains Hotel used to stand.
On Thursday morning, the city’s Louise Folk issued the ultimatum.
“If this does not occur by March 30, two things will happen. ” Folk said. “First, the property owner will be instructed by their engineer to backfill the site. Second, the city will issue a legal order requiring the property owner to backfill the site.
Fortress Development issued a statement on the matter saying at this time, they are not in a position to make any comments on what has transpired because they now consider it to be a legal matter.
The project, which started in 2009, was to see a hotel and condo built with the building being Regina’s tallest. That project was to be completed in November 2012.
