Reading my Facebook feed, I see lots of friends are heading out around the globe, some for work others for adventure. Sometimes they work in unison! Here I am in Regina, a week ago I was enjoying the warmth and fresh smell of Portland and the surrounding Oregon communities.
While my objective of the trip was spending time with my Aunt Lavina, she celebrated her 100th birthday on March 10th, it was also nice to leave the snow behind, do a bit of shopping and re-connect with family.
Corresponding through email, Facebook, texts or other apps is fine, but nothing beats being right there! I’m truly thankful that there were no conflicts as far as me leaving to attend this event.
I can’t say enough about the trip; my flights were on time, the transferring in Vancouver was seamless considering the size of airport and that I had to pass through customs. But how great was it to arrive at my destination by 11am. The beauty of gaining a couple of time zones.
A trip to Costco where generally things are the same. You can buy booze right next to the fruits and veg. The Costco lunch counter is busy with construction workers and shoppers alike and it includes some pretty good fast food. The U.S. Costco hot dogs are better than what I’ve had here plus there is some crazy chicken and cheese bun that they make that is amazing. Two of us dining for less than seven dollars!
If you drive to Oregon, don’t get out of your car to gas up! There is no such thing as self-serve! #JobCreation.
Woodburn, Oregon is just off of the I-5 south of Portland. You want or need sneakers – then this is the place with an Adidas, Nike, Fila, Asics oh and a few more stores where runners are located.
If you plan on picking up dress closes there’s lots of choice and fitness gear is at drop dead pricing. The fun part is using your debt card and when you get home, checking the account to find out you still did save money in your purchases.
Now, with a full compliment of gear for the gym or walking trails I just need to get busy. I’m waiting for those warm temperatures to kick in. Tonight I’m emceeing an event at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, I think some of my new dress gear will work nicely.
Have a great weekend – Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
