The Regina Pats are on the verge of playing the Swift Current Broncos in the first round of the WHL playoffs, but if that is to happen they would at like to take a couple of points from their Eastern Division rivals.
Regina can clinch third in the East with one point in their last home game of the regular season Friday night or a Brandon loss against Moose Jaw.
A win Friday night in front of what will be a sold out Brandt Centre would not only be their seventh straight, but it would also be their 40th of the season which is something head coach and general manager John Paddock thinks would be special considering the season they have had and the ups and downs they have encountered.
“It looked unlikely at one point so I guess it is personally.” Paddock stated. “There’s bigger fish to fry though from now until May 27th when it comes to winning our 40th of the season.”
Forward Nick Henry says it may not be known just where their playoff road will begin, but he says for his team they can send a message.
“These are statement games.” Henry exclaimed. “If we go in there and play really well and show we can beat them, it will bode well for playoffs.”
Regina goes into the game having not beaten the Broncos in four tries while being outscored 16-7.
Captain Sam Steel will look to continue a point-streak that has hit a dozen games with the 19 year old having accumulated 21 points in those games.
620 CKRM will have it all for you starting with the pre-game show at 6:35.
After the game, fans are invited to head from the Brandt Centre to the Harvard 620 lounge at Mosaic Stadium for a “St. Pats” party where there will be entertainment and some Kevin Hart tickets to be given away.
