The wheels on Saskatchewan Transport Company buses may have stopped rolling months ago, but the file isn’t completely closed on the former provincially owned bus transportation company.
Minister of STC Joe Hargrave says they have had to extend the shelf life for another year because not all loose ends have been tied up when it comes to properties.
“We still have a couple buildings that are not finalized,” he said. “So that, in a sense, kind of prevents us from going into a new fiscal year.”
The two buildings are located in the two biggest cities: One in Saskatoon and the other here in Regina.
Despite the move, Hargrave said there will not be a large amount of extra costs will be incurred.
“There will be very nominal additional cost on it, the work has been taken over by CIC,” he said. “We haven’t had any employees at CIC to handle any extra work.”
