This morning will be my third day in Assiniboia for the Spring Fever Lotto, or should I say, might be my third day out there. It all depends on the weather and the highways. As I write this blog, I’m still not sure whether or not I’ll be making the trip.
The drive out yesterday morning was quite foggy from Regina to Moose Jaw and then it was nice and sunny from Moose Jaw to Assiniboia. Coming home was a little trickier. Highway #1, from Moose Jaw to Regina, wasn’t in the best of shape. There were some patches of icy road that had traffic moving along at about 60 clicks. As I was driving I noticed some flashing lights in the distance. I never like to see that. When I pulled up on the scene there was a fire truck, a tow truck, and a cop. The tow truck was pulling a vehicle onto it’s bed that looked like it had rolled. It was the only vehicle on the scene, so I suspected the driver might have been driving a little too fast for the conditions and took a little tumble into the ditch.
I remember missing one day of my broadcasts in Assiniboia last year that I had to cancel due to poor road conditions, and that was in May!
So, as I sit here this morning, I have my fingers crossed hoping Mother Nature will allow me one more unimpeded run to Assiniboia. I know I’ll be promoting the Spring Fever Lotto today, I just don’t know from where!
