The newest addition to the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame is back with new music and a new EP. Paul Brandt will release “The Journey YYC: Volume 1″ on Friday, April 6th. The first single, The Journey, was released this past autumn and the second, All About Her,” was released a few weeks ago. It’s a song about about relationships, in particular, his own with his wife Liz.
“I respect Liz so much. She has been just an incredible friend along the years. We got married early in my career. Really, we got married, dated, engaged, she moved to Nashville, we’re there for a couple weeks, have a honeymoon, and then get on a bus with 11 smelly guys and started traveling all over North America,”chuckled Brandt. “We were doing 180 shows at that time and she was there every step of the way.”
The EP is the first of two that’s planned for release this year.
“This idea of Volume 1 and Volume 2, it’s kind of like there’s been a couple of volumes of my career for me. That trip to Nashville, the first 10 years we spent there, and then moving back to Alberta and I wanted to retell that story in a way,” elaborated Brandt. “We’ll have a second EP a little later in the year and completing the project. It’s fun telling the story in that way.”
You can hear more about his latest project, including his latest song, in my interview with Paul Brandt Friday morning starting just after 11 on 620 CKRM.
