Tia Pinacie -Littlechief has been found not guilty in a Regina court on a charge of second-degree murder.
The 23 year old was facing a charge of second degree murder in the stabbing death of 27 year old Justin Crowe at a house party on the Piapot First Nation in October of 2015.
The verdict caused members of Crowe’s family to charge the accused who was whisked out of the courtroom.
Regina police were reportedly called to increase security at the courthouse including escorting jury members to their vehicle.
Pinacie-Littlechief had said during the trial that Crowe became violent and threatening at the house party and that she stabbed him in self-defence.
