The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be the recipients of a very prestigious award.
University of Regina President Dr. Vianne Timmons, will be presenting the football franchise with the President’s Community Award on Tuesday night at Innovation Place. The award will be accepted by club President & CEO Craig Reynolds.
“(The award puts) a real focus on organizations that support community, not who do things for the university,” said Timmons.
She spoke to why the Riders are receiving this award, noting their work with local organization, kids and all across the province as primary factors.
“The Saskatchewan Roughriders have done so much for the Saskatchewan province,” she said. “In particular, with the Red Cross and the anti-bullying campaign they do.”
“The Riders go out to communities all over the province.”
Others to have been recognized with the award include former Regina mayor Pat Fiacco, Regina MP Ralph Goodale and Cindy Fuchs of the Canadian Red Cross.
