After a week of mourning, it’s time for healing to begin.
The SJHL season resumes with the Canalta Cup final starting in Nipawin, with the Hawks take on the Estevan Bruins in Game 1.
Bruins coach Chris Lewgood’s team left on Friday and stopped at the site of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.
“Here’s an opportunity for us to get out as a group and pay tribute to the 16 people and the rest of the Humboldt Broncos who’ve been affected and their families,” he said.
Lewgood noted making the stop and taking time to pay their respect was an absolute must.
“It’s a little more selfish,” he said. “When we drive past that site, if we didn’t stop, we’d have guys looking out of the corner of their eye, out the window, and having it the back of their minds and thinking about it.”
“We don’t want that.”
