A man and woman are in custody with charges pending after an incident in the northwestern part of the province late Saturday night.
RCMP say around 11:30, they received a complaint about a gas station theft in the community of Lashburn with the suspect vehicle being a black taxi cab van police had been looking for after a Regina cab driver was stabbed with his vehicle being stolen Friday morning.
Members of the Maidstone detachment found the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it, but that did not happen until west of Delmas when a shot was fired from the van which resulted in one officer returning fire.
An RCMP cruiser hit the van causing it to go into the ditch where it got stuck. A gun was then pointed towards officers resulting in another shot being fired by an officer.
The two were taken into custody with the help of a police dog. The woman did have to be treated for minor injuries as a result of the dog’s involvement.
At this time, no names have been released.
No officers were injured.
