Submissions are now open for the 2018 edition of the 620 CKRM Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase. I thought I should catch up with last season’s winner, Sabrina Demyen, to find out what she’s been up too.
“I’ve been really busy since winning. We’ve been travelling all over Saskatchewan doing small gigs and big gigs and I started recording my new single coming up,” smiled Demyen.
She performed on the big stage at Country Thunder Saskatchewan last summer and was part of the 620 CKRM Listener Appreciation party in November at the Regina Performing Arts Centre. Now she’s in the early stages of organizing an all female music festival near her hometown of Prince Albert.
“It’s going to be all women musicians and there’s going to be a lot more on social media and a lot more to come but I’m excited to finally announce it’s going to be happening. It’s called “Rock My Gypsy Soul Music Festival,” explained Demyen.
She partnered with Vintage Gypsy Magazine to host the event which is scheduled for September 8th. In addition to her already hectic schedule, she’s getting set to release a brand new single entitled “Wild Love” this summer, her first release since 2010.
Demyen will also be showcasing her musical talent for the first time in her career at the 2018 Saskatchewan Country Music Awards at the end of April in her hometown by participating in the adult showcase. She’ll take to the stage sometime between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on April 28th at the P.A. Inn
“I never had the opportunity of going to SCMA’s so I’m excited and I know a lot of people in the industry so I’m excited to catch up with a lot of people and network and just see what the SCMA’s is all about,” Demyen said.
Keep up the great work, Sabrina!
