If you’re driving north of Kamsack on Highway 8, expect some delays.
A major culvert under a stretch of the highway north of Kamsack failed due to increased water from the spring melt, washing away a portion of the road.
Highways Minister David Marit said crews are working hard, but this could be a lengthy repair.
“Everybody pretty well knows it’s tough to put a pipe in a flowing stream,” he said. “So we’re going to have to wait for the water to subside.”
“It’s a very lengthy pipe and a very big pipe.”
Due to that fact, a crane will need to be brought in to lift the pipe, which is making Marit unsure as to how long the delay ought to take.
