Yesterday afternoon I heard some noise coming out of our back yard. Max was outside and started barking like the end of the world was coming, so I thought I’d better head out to the yard and check what all of the commotion was about.
My neighbours were out in their yard putting a gate in the fence between our houses. They’ve been putting off that project for a while, but decided with the nice weather that there was no time like the present. Sam and Achmed are great neighbours. They’ve lived next to us for 10 years and we’ve never had any problem with them at all. With the way Max barks, I’m surprised they haven’t packed up and left already.
We yakked in the yard for about 15 or 20 minutes before I went back in to the house while they carried on with their project. Out on the street I noticed another neighbour out changing his tires on his vehicle. Firmly believing this winter weather is finally over for good, he swapped his winter tires for the summer grips.
I went out to chat with him and mentioned that I noticed a wasp hive high in one of his trees that was easy to spot with no leaves to hide it. Turns out, the tree is actually in his neighbour’s yard, but he knew about the hive and plans on getting rid of it. He told me he’s got an extension ladder that he’ll put up beside the tree and go up when the sun’s about to go down. Apparently the wasps are less active at that time of the day. I told him to let me know when he’s doing it so I can go inside and stay there until I hear the screaming stop! Good luck. He’s a brave guy, that Chip!
That’s what I love about spring and summer. The birds are singing and they neighbourhood is alive with activity!
Here’s hoping Chip doesn’t have to put his winter tires back on anytime soon!
