The Nipawin Hawks have won their first SJHL title in 28 years.
The Hawks got their hands on the Canalta Cup trophy after a dramatic 2-1 Game 7 win on home ice Tuesday.
Josh McDougall had the winner midway through the third period.
The Hawks move on to play in the ANAVET Cup against the Manitoba Junior League champion Steinbach Pistons.
The win by the Hawks comes 18 days after a tragic bus crash that killed 16 members of the Humboldt Broncos. Their bus was hit by a tractor-trailer unit en route to a playoff game in Nipawin.
