SaskPower is fixing and adding new equipment in Regina’s downtown core.
Jordan Jackle with Sask Power says to date, they’ve spent quite a bit on doing so, and they’re not done yet.
“Well, so far, we’ve spent about $28 million in doing this work and this year, we’re looking to spend about nine million,” he said. “The goal overall is to improve the reliability of power in downtown.”
Jackle said some of that money will be devoted to replacing aging power infrastructure and duct banks.
“We’re replacing those and reorganizing them,” he said. “That sort of paves the way to what we’ll be doing in future years, where we’ll be replacing some of those underground powerlines, which are pretty old in a lot of cases.”
