Saskatchewan’s former Premier is eager to be taking on a new portfolio.
Just not a government related one.
It was announced yesterday Brad Wall was hired by law firm Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt LLP in an advisory position and is working out of the company’s Calgary office.
Wall said he’s pleased to undertake this new venture.
“I think the firm has a great roster of clients and they’re growing everyday,” said Wall.
Wall will be offering both the firm and their clients advice on a variety of issues.
One of the issues he’ll be advising on is the energy sector, particularly as it relates to the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline.
“We have policies in our country, provincially in Alberta and nationally, things like the carbon tax, inability to get a pipeline built, that’s dissuading investment into our energy sector.”
Wall also will be advising on agricultural related affairs, an area he’s pleased to offer his wealth of experience and knowledge.
“Some clients will be very much interested in the Asian piece,” he said. “We worked very hard in government to try to build up our Asian exports. They’re up 46% in those 10 years and China alone, they’re up 300% the exports driven principally by agricultural products.”
Despite his new job, Wall isn’t relocating to the prairies largest city.
He’ll be maintaining his residence in his hometown of Swift Current, commuting to Calgary every two weeks.
