A 47 year old Wilkie man has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for at least 18 years after shooting his wife to death in March of 2017.
Wesley Veit had been charged with first-degree murder, but he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge in a North Battleford courtroom on Friday.
Court heard how Veit waited for his wife to come home before shooting her in front of the family home. Earlier in the day, it had been learned that Heidi Veit would be coming to the home to pick up belongings after meeting with a lawyer to discuss the couple’s impending divorce.
